Fresh from tour with Wale and with his debut album, Don’t Think Less of Me, on the way (it drops this Fall!), Colin Munroe will be playing his first headliner show in NYC tomorrow night (July 28) at the famous SOB's. Have you missed the hearty girls since your interview? The hearty girls are a unique bunch. They keep in touch...and harass me all the time on Twitter! What are you up to these days? I have semi permanently re-located to NYC this summer. In the past I've only been able to be here for a few days at a time and its just not the same as being able to live here. How were the opening acts selected for your show in NYC? Honestly, it was kinda put together patchwork style! The KickDrums were looking to do their first NYC show and they do kind of a hybrid thing as well, so it made sense musically to try it out. The other guys jumped on to make it a celebration of the 1st year anniversary of homebase. Who have you been in the studio with? Ha ha. That's almost a trick question cause these days most collaborations happen over the internet without people actually being in the same studio. That's how I did the record with Bun B, Talib and others… Ha. Ok, ok. Who have you been working with (over the net)? Bun b, Talib Kweli, Asher Roth, Nottz, Melanie Fiona. Though she was in person actually cause we happened to be in Toronto at the same time. What's coming up next for you? I have to do a festival in Germany in August then back to NYC for more building towards album release time. And hopefully seeing some hearty girls too!
