Your face always breaks out at the worst times, like when you have a huge presentation at work or the night before your best friend’s wedding. While stress is a huge cause of breakouts, there are lots of things you may not even know about that can cause them.

Wash Less
The skin on your face is much more sensitive than the rest of your body, and it’s easy to over-wash. You should never be washing your face more than twice a day. If your skin is really sensitive, try washing only with water in the morning and using a gentle cleanser before bed.

Drink More
You already know that not drinking enough water makes you not so awesome at life, but here’s another reason to down as much as you can — drinking water keeps your skin looking hydrated and smooth. Forget the acne cream, have a few glasses of H2O next time you feel a breakout coming on.

Relax
This may sound easier said than done, but stress is a huge cause of breakouts. Taking a few minutes every day to do something that helps you relax — like reading a book or spending time with friends — can work wonders for your complexion.

Clean Your Phone
You may not think about this often, but your phone generally carries more bacteria than a toilet seat (gross). If you only break out on one side of your face, stop and think about if it’s the same side you hold your phone on. If it is, it’s time to start sanitizing your Smartphone.
