Providing you with energy and nutrients is what gives a food the ever-so-popular title of “superfood.” It’s something you incorporate into your day to ensure your body receives the correct amount of vitamins necessary to function properly and boost your health.

There are tons of superfoods out there, but these are our faves:

Kale

Part of the cruciferous vegetable family, Kale which is a dark green or purple leaf has many benefits that give it the title of “superfood.” Recognized as providing comprehensive benefits to the detoxification process in the body, it’s safe to say this leaf should be making it into your every day meals.

Spirulina

Coming in the form of both dried tablet and powder, spirulina is essentially blue-green algae located in both salt water oceans and fresh lakes. Used as a source of dietary protein, this superfood aids in weight loss and overall health.

Acai Berry

With a similar flavor profile to a blueberry, this superfood is known for being rich in antioxidants, fiber, and heart-healthy fats. Include these berries into your morning smoothies or yogurt to detox your body and energize your system.

Maca Root

Grown in central Peru in the high plateaus of the Andes Mountains, maca root has been harvested for 3,000 years. Relative of the radish, maca root gives off a butterscotch smell and aids in enhancing energy, stamina, and athletic performance.

Chia Seeds

Native to central and southern Mexico and Guatemala, the chia is a species of flowering plant from the mint family. Containing fiber, calcium, protein, and magnesium this superfood gives you all the nutrients for very little calories.
