You know that all-too-familiar feeling when you get a strong craving for some super specific food, and you can’t eat anything else until you have it?

If you know exactly what we’re talking about, you’ll be stoked to know that beating even your strongest cravings is actually pretty easy— science says so.

According to the recently published study, the best way to curb your cravings is to envision yourself fulfilling them later. So, all you have to do is tell yourself that if you still want that double chocolate chip cookie in a few hours, you can have it.

The researchers found that this method significantly reduced immediate desire for whatever was being craved. They also found that the “I can have it later” method is much more effective than telling yourself that the food is bad and you can’t have it at all.

Be sure to try this next time those afternoon junk food cravings roll around and let us know what you think.
