Get Fit__ Coach Becky Hammon Makes History…Again

July 21, 2015 | By

Becky Hammon made history when she became the first female coach in the NBA summer league, but now she’s stepping up her game (literally) by leading her team, the San Antonio Spurs, to win the Las Vegas Summer League championship.

The victory over the Phoenix Suns Monday night in the title game boasted a score of 93-90. Commenting on her teams hard work and dedication Hammon said, “they listened and they played really hard for me.” Hammon continued by saying, “I just really appreciate their attentiveness and alertness, they were tired, but they fought through.”

Of course, when you have a coach such as Hammon who is already making history on her own, it’s hard not to give it everything you’ve got. Player, Jonathan Simmons who scored 23 points and took home MVP honors said, “I really love her and I’ve only known her a couple days. She’s a real cool coach. She’s a player coach and that’s something we all like.”

And after a long night and a victory Hammon was rewarded with a Gatorade bath in the locker room.
