Well, it's about time. The NFL officially has their first female coach. The Arizona Cardinals announced on Monday that they’ve hired Dr. Jen Welter to coach its training camp and preseason.

Welter who has played in men’s and women’s professional football leagues, was the first woman to hold a non-kicking position when she played with the Revolution last year in addition to working as a linebackers coach for the team. But now Welter is stepping her way on to the sidleine, tweeting, “In my Cinderella story. I was transformed in a football uniform, helmet, and cleats not a gown, a crown, and heels!”

Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians, who was responsible for hiring Welter said, "I really believe she'll have a great opportunity with this internship through training camp to open some doors for her."

As congratulations poured in via social media, Welter took to Twitter saying, “I am honored to be a part of this amazing team.”
