Get Fit__ Yoga Poses For After Your Workday

You may like your job, but that doesn’t mean your body does. If you sit at a desk all day, you’ve probably noticed some stiffness in your legs and back when you finally head home. Loosen your body up by trying some of these yoga poses that will help undo the damage caused by sitting at your desk all day.

Downward Facing Dog
This is a classic yoga pose that yogis will swear can fix just about anything. This pose stretches and lengthens your entire body, which is just what you need after a long day at work. It also reduces tension in the shoulder and neck. 

Mountain Pose
Mountain pose is a very simple but very effective way to open up the chest and back. It may look like you’re just standing still, but mountain pose also improves your posture and calms your mind. 

Standing Forward Fold
A good forward fold will stretch your legs, back and arms. Make sure to keep your knees soft so you don’t strain your lower back. You can also fold your arms together and rock back and forth if you need to release a little tension.

Cat-Cow Pose
This is actually a combination of two poses, the cat pose and the cow pose. The cat pose is done on all fours with your back arched, and the cow pose is done on all fours with your back rounded. Alternate between the two poses for a great back and neck stretch. 

Cobra Pose
Your back can tend to get a little hunched over when you sit at a desk all day, and the cobra pose can help undo that. If you’re just starting out, you can begin by doing the baby cobra pose, which is just a less intense version of the cobra. 

Pigeon Pose
This pose should really open up your hips and stretch out your legs. If you’re not quite ready for the pigeon pose, you can start with the double pigeon pose – sounds harder but it’s actually a little easier since both your legs stay in front of you.
