As Mark McNairy (AKA McNasty’s) daughter, I’ve inherited some of his genes--like his stoic, otherwise “nasty,” expression, along with role of life-long-part-time-unofficial-employee-and-personal-slave. For as long as I can remember, I’ve been giving him a helping hand with whatever business he had going on at the time. For the past ten years, I’ve only taken on this role during breaks from high school in New Orleans when I would come back to my original home, New York City. But this year, I’ve moved back to where I came from and am much closer to the family and the “family business.” I’ve also just approached the age where it’s finally acceptable to begin taking someone seriously in this country (18, thank you very much). These factors combined have led to a more serious and involved role in my dad’s working world than ever before. I’m no longer totally behind the scenes doing insignificant tasks just to help out; I’m really kind of working with (or for) my father.
