How can you change one shade of lipstick? Put it on hundreds of different women. Alyson Fox is a photographer, illustrator, sculptor and designer. Her new book, A Shade of Red, is a collection of photographs of women wearing the same lipstick shade. Despite the fact that most of the women were unknown to Alyson, the photos are highly personal and depict a wide range of women. Alyson says of the project, “Sometimes wearing it (is) a way to fit in. Sometimes a way to stand out. Sometimes a uniform. Sometimes an armor. Sometimes a gash. Sometimes an incision. Sometimes an invitation. Sometimes a warning. Sometimes just something that goes with your dress." See more images from Alyson Fox’s A Shade of Red below.
