News__ Winehouse & Perry

March 11, 2010 | By

Tragic public figure/award winning singer, Amy Winehouse, is designing her own clothing line for Fred Perry. The line debuts in October and is a reflection of Winehouse's personal style which means a lot of pink on black in a variety of shapes like, "a girlish twinset; slim, thigh-skimming pencil skirts; capri pants, a mini bowling dress, and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts."

We know Winehouse was a muse for Karl Lagerfeld and was like once culturally relevant, but this line looks like its going to be pretty ugly--like something you would have worn on the first day of grade six and then immediately regretted. However, unlike some celebrity designers who just leave it to the professionals Winehouse is said to have really involved herself in this project. "We had three major design meetings where she was closely involved in product style selection and the application of fabric, color and styling details," Richard Martin, marketing director of Fred Perry, told the Guadian UK. We guess three meetings is all it takes these days to design crappy pink argyle.
