News__ Antichrist, the movie

| By

Causing some of the biggest waves on the indie film circuit this year is Lars Von Trier's Antichrist, starring Charlotte Gainsbourg (the daughter of Serge and actress in Science of Sleep) and Willem Dafoe (Superman, Wild at Heart).

Lars Von Trier is known for his brooding, long, and emotionally taxing movies, and invented Dogme, a film technique that has since been used by directors like Harmony Korine (Kids, Gummo).  Rumor has it that he drove Bjork literally insane when she starred in his Dancer in the Dark.

NY Times called it misogynistic, Roger Ebert called it despairing, but no one disagrees on the frightening mark left on the audience members after seeing a movie like this.  It's like an Antichrist shadow that follows you out of the theater and into the streets.
