News__ ARTBOOK at X

The not-for-profit art center/alternative art space X-Initiative, brainchild of gallerist Elizabeth Dee (shown above) and a board of art world heavyhitters, has already brought a breath of fresh air to the recession-laden art scene since its opening in March. Its latest project is a collab with art book publisher D.A.P., ARTBOOK at X--a continuation of the pop-up curated art bookstore at P.S. 1 and other locales—which was launched Saturday night with an opening party to remember. Fret not if you missed the spectacle of transgressive performance artist Kembra Pfahler and The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black being toasted for her latest monograph, Beautism (published by Deitch Projects and distributed by D.A.P.), ARTBOOK at X promises to bring an equally exciting calendar of book-related events throughout the year.

ARTBOOK at X is open Wednesday-Saturday, 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.

At former Dia Center for the Arts building. 548 W. 22nd St, New York.
