Bethany Cosentino (aka Best Coast) is launching a clothing line with none other than (drum roll) Urban Outfitters

All you get to see for now is this photo but, come May, Urban Outfitters will be unveiling a new clothing line designed by Best Coast vocalist Bethany Costello. The lo-fi, three-chord crooner already teamed up with Converse once before - what did you guys think of this, uh, "advertisement"? - so, creating a clothing line to mirror her surf pop West Coast-y vibes makes sense. What could be next for this indie pop princess?

The news came on Twitter today. More recently (like an hour ago), the Pitchfork favorite has mentioned something about crop tops, so you can look forward to those. Her music sounds like a worn t-shirt and sun bleached hair, so we are half expecting her line to have a similar feel. Judging by her personal style, we might be seeing some floral, stripes, and other sweetheart prints, and maybe rompers, given the sneak preview shot above.

She wouldn't be the first artist to try their hand in the fashion world and she won't be the last. All in all, it's an interesting continuation on the Indie-girl-gone-designer movement, following up Sonic Youth's Kim Gordon collection for Urban Outfitters a couple years ago, entitled Mirror/Dash. On the other hand, with all the trouble Urban Outfitters seems to be wrapped up in these days (mainly copy right law suits and alleged anti-LGTB funding), you would think that most indie darlings would want to steer clear?
