News__ Break-Up Data

| By

According to data collected by David McCandless from Facebook users' status updates, the time to get dumped is two weeks before Christmas or Spring Break. It also appears Monday break-ups are quite popular. But realistically, who gets dumped on a Monday? You get dumped on the Sunday and update Facebook on Monday when you are depressed, sitting at your desk.

McCandless first unveiled this graph at the TED Talk in August but it went viral yesterday. How accurate is this data? Are these the dates we get dumped or the dates we're finally ready to post the news online? Isn't there a grace period of sadness and shame or do people tweet about their break-up mid-conversation?
