Welcome to the jungle

When thinking about embroidery, sex and carnage aren’t the first two things that come to mind.

Reinventing your grandma’s favorite pastime, mixed media artist Ana Teresa Barboza ditches the flowered landscapes in favor for scenes that may not be appropriate for kids. A combination of fabric cut-outs, embroidery, and graphite give her pieces a 3D quality, turning the illusion of a lion kissing/eating your face all the more frightening.
