If Jesus had made it to CBGB’s, he would’ve been a huge Ramones fan

Chilean artist, Fab Ciraolo’s new series, “Icons as Hipsters” mixes fashion with pop culture and wraps it up in a satirical package. Famous figures like Frida Kahlo, Jesus, the Dalai Lama, Cleopatra (Liz Taylor style) and Che Guevara are painted as modern trend-followers, fashionistas and well, hipsters. As seen in his Oldschool Heroes series, Ciraolo has a skill with muted color palettes, floral motifs and use of sardonic captions. His work is colorful--literally and figuratively.
