Filippo Minelli wants to surprise and confuse you

Milanese artist Filippo Minelli doesn’t take cookie-cutter landscape photos--instead he likes to confuse his audience with harsh juxtapositions. Intensely colored real smoke clouds make up his work, “Shapes.” A deep fuchsia cloud pops out against a dark snow covered mountainside, shocking blue vapors scream out against the dull winter water, and a surreal orange fog creeps up against natural stone, making nature seem lifeless. Pitting artificial against organic, Minelli’s work is striking and reminds us that just like that—POOF—it’s spring again.
