André Leon Talley, suggested Michelle Obama wear Laquan Smith's clothing. Not only to promote diversity in fashion (Smith is African-American), but because Smith seems to be a natural genius when it comes to fashion. Forced to be self-taught--Smith was denied entrance to Parsons and F.I.T.--Smith sews all of the cloths in his parents house in Queens, New York. And while this designer may have a "rags to riches" story the media will eat up for good reason (we're taking our first bite) Suzie Bubble, of Style Bubble, warns of the story clouding the talent--cause that's what Smith appears to have and be, true talent. Smith's A/W '10 collection titled, Water Goddess, has us wanting to jump right in! Embellished shoulders, polka dot jackets, dresses colored like mermaid tails and altered sweet heart necklines. Even the hair in this shoot is amazing. See more of the Laquan Smith A/W '10 collection below.
