News__ Little Miss Homeless

October 13, 2009 | By

Belgium people are outraged by the Little Miss Homeless contest where street women were given a chance to win a rent-free apartment for a year. Therese Van Belle, 58, was crowned the winner of the competition when she beat nine other contestants, who now have to return to skid row. Contestant coordinator Alice Duportail told the SUN UK that she hoped the contest would draw attention to the issue of homelessness. Instead, it angered feminist activists and left nine hopeful contestants shame-walking back to the streets.
