The new uniform for those who are not uniform

Lizzie Fortunato’s fall/winter 2013 jewelry and accessories collection aspired to establish a uniform for women. You’re picturing an army, or private school uniform, aren’t you? Well, don’t. The kind of uniform Fortunato’s line aims to be akin to is that of YSL’s iconic Le Smoking tuxedo suit--the first of its kind for woman and a (gorgeous) material manifestation of empowerment. A symbol of liberation.

Lizzie Fortunato’s line applies this concept but through different means. The collection is far from dainty--wide and heavy necklaces and bracelets are adorned with clusters of found and reclaimed materials. Colorful and eclectic clumps, including the use of feathers here and there, are a true handcrafted blend - the mismatched stones are a sense of what it means to be a young.
