News__ Mad Designs

July 19, 2010 | By

With her vintage sartorial genius, Janie Bryant (designer for TV's Mad Men)  influenced 2008 runways from Michael Kors' 60's silhouettes  to Prada's buttoned collars and sleeves. Another year of Mad Mening went by and she won a Costume Designer's Guild award for her work on the show, which was no big deal because girlfriend already won a costume design Emmy for Deadwood. Last season, Bryant went commercial as a consultant for Banana Republic. Now, ready to strike free on her own, Bryant introduces her first ready-to-wear collection. In September, "Mod by Janie Bryant" will sell exclusively on QVC.  The collection will include jackets, skirts, bags and costume jewelery. Prices look reasonable (less than $200 to be Joan/Betty/Peggy) and we expect more than from her than we do of Don's moral compass. Also available in the fall? A book of style tips by Bryant and fashion/entertainment writer, Monica Corcoran.
