News__ Mandy Coon A/W ’10

| By

As part of the DJ duo, 2 Mandy DJs, Mandy Coon made a name for herself in NYC nightlife. After working with Danish designer, Camilla Stærk, Coon launched her own label that incorporates a similar aesthetic from juxtaposed fabrics to structured silhouettes. In 2009, her first collection (SS 10) hit New York fashion week with a bang and her follow-up A/W doesn't fall short either. Model Jamie Bochert (a favourite of Rodarte's) stars in Coon's monochromatic lookbook. Coon effortlessly mixes velvet with leather and brings back last year's thigh-high boot trend in a sneaky way (with a longer top, it would look like shoes and leather leggings). Bronze detailing gives the clothes a bit of pop and the rabbit purse stirs up memories of The Velveteen Rabbit--the story of a stuffed rabbit's quest to become real through the love of its owner. We know these clothes won't literally come alive, but maybe they'll transform the girl who puts them on. Check out images from Mandy Coon's lookbook below and visit her website for more.
