The pen is mightier than the rock idol

Metric's Emily Haines has become the first artist to collaborate with Fleet jewelry designer Kate Power on Fleet's new Fleet4HearMe initiative. The project, which debuted at Coachella with Haines' PENdant creation, contributes its proceeds to the building of recording studios in orphanages. Haines' necklace, designed with input from the Metric frontwoman, features a 4" pen inscribed with the Metric lyrics "believe in the power of songs." The necklace is an homage to the "pen is mightier than the sword" sentiment that Emily surely learned from her poet father Paul Haines. It can be purchased at fleetjewelry.com with proceeds going to encourage children to experience the "power of songs."
