News__ Saturday Selection

April 02, 2011 | By

Every Saturday we’ll be selecting a photo from our Flickr pool to be featured on hearty.

"In reference to this photo "Marian Diving" sometimes I call it "Memorial Day," photographer Michael Barolet says. "I shot it on Memorial day last year at an abandoned Quarry in West Virginia that I frequent. I shot it with my 8x10 Deardorff and it is part of an ongoing project of portraits and nudes of my friends."

Native of Virginia and part-time New Yorker, Michael mostly uses an 8 x 10 view camera (imagine a large box on top of a huge tripod with a big black cape covering it). Not exactly the kind of thing you can take to a bar, however is produces beautiful photos. Michael also carry's a Leica M6 and a point and shoot with him everywhere and takes tons of snapshots.

Michael is currently working on a few zines of his snapshots and projects that involve his 8x10 camera. Check out Michael's photo blog and his website where he has more to get lost in.

If you want to be featured on hearty’s Saturday Selection, get a Flickr and start uploading!
