Minimarket awakens old world divinities with their spring/summer 2012 collection

The Minimarket s/s ’12 collection is titled ISIS, the name of the ancient Egyptian goddess. She was a mother of nature and magic, friend of slaves, sinners, the downtrodden, and artisans. She was a pretty good deity to have around.

We see Isis' essence at play in Minimarket’s statuesque model clad in a Cleopatra 'do and headdresses, but the rest is a bit of a departure from the visual Egyptian cliches. Instead, Minimarket offers up an original twist on the archetype of an empowered female goddess, as a super summery medley of wide-legged trousers, blazers, blouses, drooping skirts, and serious statement shoes--all manifested in oddly beautiful pastels of floral and ikat print. Divine.

Take a sneak peek at some of the Minimarket s/s '12 lookbook below.
