News__ Phoebe English S/S ’13 Film
Black and white forever
The monotonous pair is classic, minimal, difficult to present gaudily, streamlined and sexy. Phoebe English’s spring/summer 2013 film is likewise minimal, classic, streamlined and sexy.
Directed by Marie Kristiansen and inspired by the photography of Arthur Tress, many of the shots were taken through binoculars to give a voyeuristic feel. Shifty blurs and shadows staple the piece together. Contrast--a main player in the color palette--finds a home in the huge blank canvas backdrops.
The s/s '13 collection itself is a testament to English’s admiration, if not obsession, with detail and craftsmanship. The beadwork, emphasized by slow motion techniques, only proves this.
