95-year-old socialite and women's rights activist Zelda Kaplan passed away at Fashion Week

Last week, we lost Whitney Houston and with Fashion Week comes the death of another great woman. Nightlife icon and women's rights advocate, Zelda Kaplan, 95, died while sitting front row for the Joanna Mastroianni runway show yesterday. Kaplan became faint, reported the New York Daily, and her eyes fluttered as she fell forward. She was taken to Roosevelt Hospital where she died later that day.

Kaplan will be remembered and honored for her iconic place in the New York fashion and nightlife scene and for the awareness she raised about female genital mutilation in Africa. She was a fast-moving party animal who never let age define her. R.I.P. Zelda.
