James Franco is a rebel with a cause

James Franco adds another artistic accomplishment to his repertoire. Rebel, Franco’s first stab as a curator opens at the MOCA in LA this week. The exhibition, which draws inspiration from Nicholas Ray’s classic film Rebel Without a Cause starring James Dean, features an array of mixed media, film, and instillation work by artists such as Harmony Korine, Douglas Gordon, Damon McCarthy, and Ed Ruscha among others. Of course, in typical Franco fashion, there’s plenty of sex, dildos, and cross-dressing to make Rebel feel vastly different from Rebel Without a Cause. Think the movie coming off a mean bender and you’ll probably end up with what the exhibit is like.

Rebel will at the Los Angeles MOCA from now until June 23. Get a sneak peek of the exhibition below.
