News__ Better Off Alone?
Who has "alone time" anymore?
"Do you think you're better off alone?" Given our current attention-obsessed culture, wherein being without Facebook for more than 3 and a half hours is considered leagues more disturbing than knowing intimate details about the deepest darkest nether-regions of your favorite starlet's lady bits, the idea of privacy probably hasn't been considered a relevant (or even fathomable) concept since this question was first sung by Alice DeeJay back in the late 90's.
And while Miss DeeJay originally posed the pointed question sardonically, the witch house wünderkinds behind Salem use their new video to explore the notion of "alone" in a different light: Would we (or, in this case extra-special-super-ubermodel Gisele Bündchen) be better off alone?
No strangers to employing their music videos as poignant social commentary (take, for example, their arresting rework of Britney Spears' "Til The World Ends" overlaid with sobering war footage), the jarring juxtaposition of Salem's doomgazey "Better Off Alone" rendition and the flashy, glitzy pseudo-glamor of the celebrity high-life is nothing if not stirring.
Peep "Better Off Alone" below and keep an ear out for Salem's upcoming EP, IM STILL IN THE NIGHT, when it drops on IAMSOUND Records November 22.
