Every Saturday we select a photo from our Flickr pool to be featured on hearty

Chad Crews is a 27-year-old photographer living in New York City. Chad grew up in Florida and was lucky enough to attend schools from elementary to high school that placed importance on arts and music. Because of this Chad has a healthy obsession with the arts and has always been actively creating some form of it as far back as he can remember. Whether  it's acrylics, graphic design, screen printing, mixed media, photography or music, anything Chad can get his  hands on. Photography has become a more prominent focus for him the past few years.

The photo above--which was inspired by a painting of his father's--is part of an ongoing series in which Chad risks his life to take photos of himself standing on the edge of recognizable buildings or monuments. This is a project which Chad plans on traveling the world to do. This photo was taken with a modified Polaroid Land Camera w/Fuji FB100 film, but Chad's favorite cameras are all film-based,  anything older than he is and, of course, heavier than a brick.

A more recent project Chad has been working on is candidly capturing the moods and expressions of his friends and acquaintances.
