Scenes from the Suburbs by Spike Jonze and Arcade Fire
Directed by Spike Jonze and written by Arcade Fire, Scenes From the Suburbs screened at SXSW this week. Sticking to a succinct 30-minute length, the film reinvents the classic teen summer flick by placing its characters in the middle of a military takeover. Something like Dazed and Confused meets Swing Kids.
The film was inspired by Arcade's Fire 2010 album, The Suburbs and shot in Austin, Texas. Check out the trailer above for more and this music video for an extra dose.
Currently the band is performing a series of concerts in Haiti with local musicians. A DVD of those performances will be released later this year. No word yet on the public release of Scenes From the Suburbs, but we've heard a few rumors about May 2011.
