A s/s ’12 preview of what’s to come from your favorite brands, captured at the (capsule) show

Samantha Pleet’s wanderlust collection of dresses, skirts and crop-tops evokes her recurring concepts of mystery, fantasy, and modernity. For spring/summer 2012 collection (which we first previewed at NYFW), the Brooklyn-based designer combined retro and flowing silhouettes with ethereal prints. The whole collection reminds us of the desert, with an earthy color palette that included diamond and feather prints, and colors  peach, terracotta, and taupe. The fabrics looked raw and organic, as we are sure some of them were as the designer uses organic material wherever possible.

A personal favorite: the peacock feather print swimsuit, which has a mini cape to match. Samantha Pleet is a rare bird, and she has been getting the credit she deserves, having dressed the likes of Beach House, Dirty Projectors, and Au Revoir Simone.
