California's Tashaki Miyaki are making waves (get it?) with their dark surf sound and mysterious identities

A few months ago, two songs burst onto the blog scene that were unidentifiable. One was a spooky cover of the Everly Brothers song "All I Have To Do Is Dream," the other, an original, "Somethin' Is Better Than Nothin'." With no Wikipedia, Facebook or any modern contact page, the band, Tashaki Miyaki became enigmas. The duo, made up of Lucy (vocals, drums) and Rocky (guitar) have been compared to the Jesus and Mary Chain, John Lennon and Best Coast. If you listen, you'll get why. Their new video is an ethereal, film noir-esque journey into the woods with a cloaked girl and a dozen dark horses. The song,"Get It Right" is sad and jangly with pretty vocals and slacker drums. Directed by Juan Iglesias, it is dark and mystical and will either make you want to cry or cuddle up next to your heater.
