News__ Thorocraft to Make Women’s
Thorocraft, is a footwear line based on a commitment to four basic principles: craftsmanship, quality, durability, and comfort. Right now, their smallest size is a mens 7.5, which will fit some women, but not all. However, due to an overwhelming response, Thorocraft will introduce three of their current styles (Ross, Julianess and Trevor) in women's silhouettes for Holiday 2010. "We are really excited about this!" Alex James Creative Director of Thorocraft told us. Thorocraft is currently sold in the USA, Japan, Europe, England, and South Africa.
We caught up with Alex to ask him a few questions about the new women's collection, the brand and find out what's next for Thorocraft. This Tuesday March 30, Thorocraft will be celebrating their Spring 2010 collection at Ella on Avenue in NYC. Come toast the collection with them. See all the details for the party here.
How will the women's collection differ from the men's collection?
We appreciate the fashion forward look of an androgynous women. So, for now, we are sticking with that.
What pushed you to start Thorocraft?
My partner and I saw a gap in the market place for quality men's shoes that didn't break your wallet. We already had a family factory in place, so in January 2009, Thorocraft was born.
What are you doing with Thorocraft that is different from the rest of the market?
We are bringing the highest quality shoe to the world for the best possible price. Our designs are extremely unique with a modern feel.
You're said to design for the needs of the contemporary man. What does he want?
The contemporary man wants to be noticed in a crowded city. He cares about his appearance and wants to feel good.
What can we expect from your new styles?
In the future, we will be working with new soles made of wheat and rubber as well as amazing new materials. We will be introducing a leather goods collection consisting of bags, backpacks, wallets and much more.
Pick a song that represents Thorocraft as a brand.
This Must be the Place (Naive Melody) by The Talking Heads. This song basically says, be creative and do what you love and you will be be happy at the end of the day!
