Angel Haze release her new mixtape Classick, where she addresses personal painful memories

When we got the opportunity to sit down with Angel Haze last month it was her emotional honesty that impressed us more than any young artist we'd spoken to in years. Now she's dropped her new mixtape, Classick, and recounted her painful childhood story of sexual abuse on a rework of Eminem's "Cleaning Out My Closet." She told us, "As a kid I was molested, so now I’m 21 and I’m a virgin. I’m freaked out by vaginal penetration. I grew with it and harbored it so much that it naturally became a fear that holds me back." But nothing about where she is now shows a person being held back by trauma. In addition to that graphic moment a resilient Haze raps over tracks from some of the artists she respects the most, like Lauryn Hill, Missy Elliott and Jay-Z.

"You learn, you take all your anger, animosity, everything that you’ve been through and you let it be an example and a teaching experience."
