Like Peter Pans Lost Boys, but for girls

Upstate's dye jobs are not your regular D.I.Y. back yeard tie-dying. Rather, these two Brooklyn-based ladies, Kalen Kaminski and Astrid Chastka, have used a fresh take on shibori (traditional Japanese cloth-dying -- Wiki it here) and paired that with an ombré-style dip dye--the result, reminds us of Rorschach ink blot testing. Since most of the focus is on the indigo fabrics, the shapes are kept nice and simple. Upstates s/s '12 collection includes a beach-ready selection of ponchos, sarongs, wraps, hankies, and dresses. The lookbook is with war paint, wands made of sticks, painted rocks dangling from strings, and candles standing in long grass-- it's like the prettier version of the Peter Pan's Lost Boys, where Rufio has subbed out his red feathers for a pretty cute sarong.
