News__ “You’re The One” Charli XCX
Charli XCX is on a goth-tear
London's Charli XCX is building an army of baby goth girls. After being featured on the cover of V Magazine with Grimes and Sky Ferreira this week, she has released the official video for her single, "You're the One." It's a dark, black and pink collision of ultra feminine love song lyrics and 90's lolita goth fashion. A mob of pre-teen looking girls with teased out hair and black lipstick dance frantically in a uniform of leather vests, cropped turtle necks and raver platform sneakers.
The single was featured on her Heartbreaks and Earthquakes mixtape, which included covers of some hugely different artists like Drake, Jai Paul and Blood Orange. You can cop a free download on her website if you haven't heard it yet. Charli is quickly joining the ranks of our favorite female icons who don't fit the standard pop-star mold. The way she traverses genres and references so many different sub cultures in her music is pretty novel.
