Sarah Burke lived a life that inspired women to push the envelope and always "go big" Yesterday 29-year-old pro skier Sarah Burke passed away after suffering fatal injuries during a training session in the superpipe in Park City, Utah. Burke was a pioneer in her field and a leading voice in the fight to make ski halfpipe a part of the 2014 Olympics in Sochi, Russia. She was a strong female in an industry where men tend to reign supreme. She was fearless and talented, one of the few women who would compete against men with gusto, and win. A gold medal favorite for the event she fought to legitimize, Burke's absence in 2014 will no doubt be felt by all the athletes involved. She was one of the most decorated female skiers of all time, a 6 time winner of the Winter X Games, 5 time winner of the World Cup and the 2005 World Champion in Ruka, Finland. She was a beloved wife, daughter, aunt, and friend and she will be missed by all who knew the strength of her character and the passion she had for pushing the envelope. Burke's family is left in mourning with over $550,000 in medical charges and donations are being collected through WePay. You can help them out here.
