Stockholm: The Land of Clogs, Kimonos and Topsy Tails

I was lucky enough to fly to Stockholm to attend Midsummer, the Swedish holiday celebrating the longest day of the year.  If you’re ever going to visit Sweden, the summer solstice is the most ideal time to hit it up (this year it falls on June 25).  If you love night as much as me, you’ll love that it stays light all night long. Kanon Vodka held an awesome launch party for their organic spirit, full of PYT’s and a DJ set by Lykke Li, whom I shared a quick chat with for Interview.  Even Lykke Li’s mom got down on the dance floor.

Kimonos and Nudes, Whites, Grays

At the party, I kept feeling like I was seeing bleach-blonde versions of people I knew in New York.  I talked to some young stylists who told me they were into things nude, gray, white and anything cheap.  Another trend I was fond of was a pared-down kimono look, layered over a T-shirt and jeans.

Topsy Tail hair

Another thing I love about Stockholm is that just walking down the street you feel like you’re at an Opening Ceremony party.  Near a park in Sofo, a cool neighborhood for shopping, I stalker-snapped a shot of this girl’s Topsy Tail.  I haven’t seen one of these since an infomercial circa 1994, and I’m now determined to bring it back.
