LISTEN Toro Y Moi x Hodgy Beats

Thursday, November 8th, 2012
Toro Y Moi offers up a remix of his new single, featuring Hodgy Beats In anticipation of his new LP Anything in Return, Chaz aka Toro Y Moi released a remix of the track "So Many Details" which features lyrics from Odd Future's Hodgy Beats. It's a b-side song that gives us just a taste of the new album. On January 22nd, you'll be able to hear the whole thing. In the summer, we wrote about the Toro Y Moi and Tyler the Creator collaboration. With "So Many Details," it looks like Chaz is diving deeper in hip hop territory or prepping for the gang initiation to join OFWGKTA. It's probably a mild jumping in ceremony that involves skateboarding stoned while holding a cat. We asked Chaz about hip hop in our feature article and he said, "I don’t listen to hip hop to make hip hop beats. It's not like that." His outside influences give hip hop a fresh injection of electro bedroom sounds. Listen to the song below and read our interview with Chaz of Toro Y Moi here. Leitmotiv F/W ’12

Tuesday, March 20th, 2012
Leitmotiv's fall/winter '12 lookbook combines quirk with glam Italian design duo, Leitmotiv, has become a star at Milan Fashion Week with their fairy tale patterns and chic silhouettes. These are not clothes for the faint of heart, but like any good painting, Leitmotiv's designs are spectacular from far away and from close-up. The fall/winter 2012 collection, titled "The Elegant Universe" conveys star presence with the promise of comfort. Cathedral-inspired patterns are eye-catching but the luxury velvet, leather and silk fabrics were chosen to treat your skin. On their website, in Italian, Leitmotiv describes the woman who wears their clothes as someone who "likes to live each moment as if life is continually becoming." Ok, so our Italian (i.e. Google translator's Italian) isn't great but we like the next part of the description that says, roughly, "Just as the stars change shape and energy, giving off light and color, always in search of a new identity." Check out more of Letmotiv's f/w '12 lookbook images below.

Meet Our New Blogger Yasi!

Meet our new hearty blogger Yasi Salek!

Our new blogger Yasi Salek doesn't tell jokes. But she does have a solid sense of humor. "Reporting" from LA (aka she lives there) Yasi isn't afraid to put herself out there. When we first started discussing her new column on hearty, vajazzling, going on speed dates and taking part in live action role play (with swords and that's not a sexual innuendo) were just a few of the ideas Yasi brought to the table. It was a match made online. Yasi will be blogging on hearty about all of the above and more--specifically of the feline inclined.

Meet the new hearty blogger Yasi Salek via Q + A  below and read her blog here.

What do you plan to blog about on hearty? Cats? (Is that cool Hana May?) What do you do when you're not updating your fabulous hearty blog? Cultistzine.com, Features Editorial for Buzznet.com, and carry on lengthy conversations with my cats. (They are very into political discourse at the moment). Where are some other places we will catch your byline? Cultistzine.com. Huffington Post LA, Buzznet, Interview, and Garage Mag Where were you born and where do you live? I was born in Los Angeles. ROUND UP

Friday, June 24th, 2011
Every Friday we round up of some of the best stories from some of the best sites from the past week Summer Breeze, the manufacturers of those make-your-pussy-smell-good-sprays, hire a wealthy cat to tell the world that "vaginal" is now a synonymous term with "awesome." We agree, but feel totally uncomfortable with all of this. [Bust] Tyra says: accentuate your shoulders, diminish your waist and smize. Here's a memo on our generation's iconic  anorexia-seeking pose, the Broken Doll. [Dis Magazine] Schwarzenegger, Weiner, and Strauss-Kahn might actually have been genetically-programmed to cheat on wives, tweet photos of their dicks and assault hotel maids. Wait, so this isn't just the intuitive straight-white-male power complex? [Motherboard] Reasons not to cheat: laziness. Rob Delany on marriage and fidelity. [The Fader] Dancehall superstar Vybz Kartel gets big ups from the NYTimes for his new album Kingston Story. Does his skin-bleaching hype have anything to do with this? If it's a gimmick, it's working. [ NY Times]
