Rick Ross, whose album God Forgives, I Don’t drops today, honors the moment with the release of his single "3 Kings" There's something to be said for when a rapper gets comfortable in their position--there's a slight change in voice, a confidence that can't be duplicated. Dre, Jay-Z and now Rick Ross--who is technically throwing his own crown in the ring--had to come a long way before making it to the top. In the video for "3 Kings" we get a glimpse of that journey. Even though piecing together "tour" footage and old videos can seem, well, a little lazy, you can't recreate these moments. The flashes of Beats by Dre. ads, we could do without though. Watch "Three Kings" Rick Ross featuring Jay-Z and Dr. Dre below.
Tupac is alive (sort of) and performs Hail Mary and 2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted at Coachella Imagine being at Coachella, watching the Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre show and all of a sudden Tupac raises on stage and starts performing "Hail Mary." Well, that happened. Using some sort of crazy technology (also used in Japan to make pop stars) a realistic hologram of Tupac was created, and "Tupac" can rap, dance and even get the crowd live. Finishing his performance with "2 of Amerikaz Most Wanted" with Snoop, the two rappers even interact with one another at times. Though this has been used before (again, see Japanese pop star video), it hasn't been used to bring back celebrities from the dead. The opportunities could be endless. Maybe Elvis will be going on tour next summer, Biggie will be playing Madison Square Gardens or Whitney Houston will perform her own memorial concert. Musicians that are still alive could even use it--Beyonce could have concerts across the world the same night. Most of us revel at the idea of seeing our favorite lost performers on stage again, but it is a little weird. Is Tupac performing at Coachella creepy or cool? Who would you want to or not want to see resurrected on stage?
