From her captivating stage presence to her thoughtful and honest lyricism, Angel Haze is career-wise beyond her 21 years of age. We caught up with her before her CD release party at SOB's and wandered through her NYC apartment to learn more about Haze's musical aspirations, the difficulties she faced as a young girl and the resilience it takes to move past struggle into the spotlight. Just how we like our coffee Though Nashville may not be known for their punk bands, they do have a rich history in music. And this history has seeped it's way in to the veins of punk band Heavy Cream--made up of Jessica McFarland (vocals), Mimi Galbierz (guitar), Seth Sutton (bass) and Tiffany Minton (drums). Having just released their sophomore album Super Treatment we caught up with the girls of the band (sorry Seth) to talk instruments, leopard jumpsuits and bathroom bar fights. New Feature: Phlo Finister

Los Angeles-based Phlo Finister is our newest feature “All the bass players are really cool,” Phlo Finister gushes. “I’ve always dreamed of singing really low, like the bass, so I figure if I can play it, I can sing like that.” Our newest feature is R&B songstress Phlo Finister, who has captured the attention of everyone from Rolling Stone to Complex but hasn't even released an LP yet. Blending musical genres in her breakthrough tracks like "Bang Bang" and "Shades" and styling herself in mod looks and makeup for her videos, Phlo is a self-proclaimed Youth Quaker who you'll be hearing more and more of in the weeks to come. Especially since said LP (to be titled Youth Quaker) is set to drop this year. We caught up with Phlo in her hometown of sunny California to shoot with photographer Hayden Shiebler and stylist Natasha Newman-Thomas at the pool. When in Cali... Introducing our new We Heart... feature: Brigid Dawson of Thee Oh Sees In our newest feature Brigid Dawson, of the highly regarded garage rock band Thee Oh Sees, opens up about everything from dealing with sexist sound men to if there was ever a love attraction between her Oh Sees lead John Dwyer to not being allowed in her own green room to affirming her place in the world as a women. "I have no problem being a bitch when the occasion calls for it, but it rarely does," Brigid told hearty. "I’d rather enjoy the life that I’m living than put on a show.
