Charles_Bouchaib_Photography Every Saturday we select a photo from our Flickr pool and feature it right here Charles Bouchaib is a photographer living in the Loire Valley. The photo above was taken in the north of Spain, near Oviedo. "All the coast is really beautiful and mysterious," Charles says. "I studied environment and landscape. I teach sciences, and I love art." Charles is especially interested in contemporary photography. "My project is built around a dialectic between the rational and the sensitive. Primitive nature, even sacred, in the pagan sense of the term, inspires me. Without trying to celebrate it, I try to make pictures where this primitive nature appears beautiful or threatening because of its elusiveness. I try to explore the limits of our perception of reality through vegetable and mineral matter." Charles uses a Fuji GW670, a Mamiya 645 and a rb67 with Kodak Portra film. He prefers film to digital. "I appreciate to print a picture on a physical medium, it is almost a organic and more natural feeling. Above I like the obtainable pastel colors balance." To see more of Charles' gorgeous images please take a look at his Flickr, his Tumblr and website. Want to be featured on hearty’s Saturday Selection? Spring/Summer ’13 Preview: A.P.C.

Wednesday, October 24th, 2012
A sneak peek of what's to come from A.P.C. for spring/summer 2012 If you've seen the cult hit Virgin Suicides directed by Sofia Coppola, then the spring release form A.P.C. may look familiar to you. The collection was inspired by the 1999 movie and it's instantly felt in the use of pastel denim, plaid we think Lux Lisbon (Kristen Stewart) actually wore in the film, and a floral pattern used on blouses and dresses. Summer moves the collection into bolder patterns and tones. A blue leopard print makes an appearance on a jacket, skirt and high-waisted pants and leather goods like coin purses and backpacks come in rich colors. Get familiar. Preview more of the A.P.C. s/s '13 collection below.

Vintage Brides

Thursday, May 24th, 2012
A frilly feast for the eyes--vintage wedding dresses Even if you're not thinking about getting married, it's interesting to look--like most couture. Château de Haroué located in Lorraine in North-Eastern France, has launched a vintage bridal exhibition. The 18th century, family-owned palace, designed by the famous architect Boffrand and decorated by 18th century artists is showcasing vintage bridal designs by couturiers such as Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Cristóbal Balenciaga, and Pierre Balmain. Many of the dresses are part of fashion collections and many are on loan from museums, such as a copy of the late Princess Diana of Wales' wedding dress. Curated by retired designers Hubert de Givenchy and Philippe Venet, the exhibition runs until August 31st. Also pretty cool: it's hosted by Princess Minnie de Beauvau-Craon, who is a direct descendant of Prince Marc de Beauvau-Craon, who commissioned the Chateau in the first place. Seeing as a pop over to Lorraine might not be in the books for next week, see more from the vintage bridal exhibit below.

Jennah_Saaf_Photography Every Saturday we select one of your photos Jennah Saaf is a 19-year-old photographer who is currently going to school at Indiana University. Jennah says she enjoys photographing simple things, in ways that are different from how one would typically see it. "I took this while I was traveling around Europe," Jennah says of the photo ABOVE she took with her Canon AE-1. "The contrast of the black trimmed window and the greenery caught my eye." Jennah loves her AE-1. "It's funny because I've spent over a thousand dollars on my Canon D50, but I use my 25$ thrifted camera much more." This summer Jennah plans on documenting a road trip throughout the ,idwest. If you would like to see more of Jennah's work, and would like to keep track of her summer adventures please check out her Flickr and site. Want to be featured on hearty’s Saturday Selection? Ysterike S/S ’12

Friday, May 11th, 2012
Spring/summer 2012 from Ysterike is making us crazy French fashion label Ysterike’s proves to be named appropriately. Ysterike, which is the French phonetic pronunciation for Hysteric, is exactly how we’re feeling over designer Sara Lespagnol’s spring/summer 2012 lookbook. The mix of whimsical, brash, and touch of girliness in the form of a frill fringed cutout, or bow, is so sweet it will make you want to do something stupid cute like throw a tea party but serve up sizzurp. Check out some of Ysterike’s super cute s/s '12  pieces below.
