You may know Dam Funk as the man that’s bringing Funk back–but we now know him as romantic. Stones Throw just released a video, shot last night of Dam Funk, singing an acoustic version of his track “I Wanna Thank You.” When it comes to serenades and romance, these Stones Throw cats aren’t messing around, in fact we’re pretty sure all the men featured on their Valentine’s Day podcast would make ideal Valentine’s Day dates. The podcast features Stones Throw’s finest Mayer Hawthorne, Peanut Butter Wolf, James Pants, J-Rocc and of course Dam Funk. Boys, men, husbands, players, aspiring lovers, take notes from these Stones Throw boys.

A Dam Valentine
Wednesday, February 10th, 2010Karen O Serpentine
Tuesday, January 26th, 2010We all have some skeletons dangling in our closets but we’d rather they take a permanent vacation from our “walk-ins” to appear in a beautiful black and white video. Off their third album, It’s Blitz!, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs release their new video for their song “Skeletons.” Designer Christian Joy is responsible for Karen O’ s enchanting dress, which was inspired by modern dancer Loie Fuller’s Serpentine Dress (show below).
White Lung Escapes Olympics
Thursday, January 21st, 2010White Lung – Atlanta from Ryan D. Anderson on Vimeo.
We’ve got some bad girls on our team, and by bad we mean bad ass. hearty writer Mish Way is the front lady of a rad band called White Lung. Escaping from Vancouver BC for the madness of what the Winter Olympics will be, White Lung is heading on a West coast tour collecting their own kinds of medals along the way by snatching up hearts during the course of their shredding guitar sets. We’re closet White Lung fans (guess the secret is out now) it probably doesn’t help that we love Mish already, they’re absolute babes and we’ve been watching this video for their song Atlanta on repeat, the bass line is hypnotizing. Check for a tour date near you here.
I Love Hadley, Sophie & Lawn
Thursday, January 21st, 2010Hellz X Vans from HELLZ on Vimeo
By now you probably know that Hadley isn’t a boy and Sophie isn’t a girl, but Lawn is one of our hearty ladies and these are the names from her new shoe collaboration with Vans. You may have read all about them here, but now you can see one of our hearty bloggers tell you exactly how the collaboration with Vans came about, what it was like designing with new silhouettes and how great it was working with a brand she grew up on. We’re considering scooping up some Sophies and Hadleys and rocking them while riding some motorcycles…once we find a couple…we may have to settle for bikes like the one Lawn is riding in the video for now.

Kelis Tells PETA to Furr Off
Friday, January 15th, 2010Kelis, is the latest celebrity target of animal activist group PETA. After recieving a personailzed letter from PETA and its president Ingrid Newkirk, Kelis responded in a MySpace statement saying things like, “Find a worthwhile cause like the women being maimed in these Middle Eastern countries. Or female circumcision. Or women’s rights here in America, we still get paid less for doing the same jobs as men.” Kelis definitely has no plans on putting down her fur anytime soon, or ever for that matter.
Read the full response here.
We caught the furry lady at APHEX in Los Angeles last night and she was not wearing any fur–that said, she sure looked fabulous! Check out her latest track with Basement Jaxx after the jump.

In June, we introduced you to Reid Stewart of Lifetime. This month we introduce you to Lifetime’s latest creative collaboration with Booooooom, a series of four limited edition t-shirts featuring art by
Erika Somogyi, Kenichi Hoshine and Garry Trinh. You can replace your nasty (and dated) “wolf sweater” with Kenichi Hoshine, Wolf tee. The only wolf cries you’ll hear are from people wanting your new shirt.
Peep the rest of the tees here.
Okie Dokie
Thursday, October 15th, 2009
Through daily hearty work we cross paths with good people, be it over lunch or long (long) threads of e-mails. One of the people we have come in contact with, fellow music industry man, Hex Murda, has been hospitalized. Hex is an important Detroit hip hop figure and our August man of the month Black Milk’s manager. If you are in the Detroit area, take some time to attend the benefit show taking place October 17th at St Andrews Hall. The show will feature an amazing lineup including Black Milk, Phat Kat, and Slum Village.
Hex’s e-mails often read: “okie dokie,” and there’s no guestlist for this event so when the doorman tells you to pay up, you know what your answer has got to be.
