Imagine buying this at a garage sale. Wax figurines of celebrities are okay but hyperrealistic sculptures of the average American sunbathing, garage selling or jogging is where it's at. Duane Hanson's sculptures cast in polyester resin, fiberglass, Bondo or bronze are riding their second wave of notoriety in the wake of a move toward hyperrealism. The sculptures rendered by the American artist are sometimes cast from real people and clothed in secondhand (thrifted, shall we say?) clothes.
