DJ Soul for Staple Mix on Shirt

Thursday, May 31st, 2012

STPL re-release a mix by DJ Soul--on a tee shirt A decade is a good long chunk of time, but sometimes, as the saying goes, time just flies by. Well, it's been over a decade (13 years to be exact) since DJ Soul created The Prescription mixtape for Staple back in 1999. To pay homage to the mix (and their long standing friendship) STPL is re-releasing the mix--but this time, on a tee shirt. The Prescription has been re-recorded for sound quality purposes, transferred onto a flash drive and then stitched onto a shirt, which features a graphic of three cassette tapes, that say across each tape: "This is Dedicated," "To the ones," "Who kept fronting." To celebrate the release Jeff Staple will be DJing at Big Fun tonight along with DJ Soul, and hosts Hana May, Dice and Alexandra Estevez. Listen to "The Prescription" and check out the flyer below.

Freshness x Kangol Release

Wednesday, November 23rd, 2011
The hearty staff  monkey around in the new Freshness x Kangol holiday release Come holiday time, Freshness Magazine puts together a special project with a special brand. This year's collaboration came in the form of a Jacquard Reversible Knit Cap with Kangol, which features a removable pom pom. To show off the Freshness x KANGOL holiday release, Freshness selected a group of creative trendsetters to be photographed wearing the hat. The spread  of individuals includes the likes of Jeff Staple and Nico of Reed Space, Caroline McConnaughey the Creative Director of Wooster Street Social Club, Jesse Villanueva of Alife, DJ Clark Kent, Hawaii Mike of LTD, Director Jay Lewis and us! Unfortunately L.L. didn't partake. Obviously we--more specifically hearty Editorial Director Hana May and Social Media Director Dana Droppo--did a little monkeying around with the pom pom. Check out some shots from the Freshness x Kangol collaboration below. .

Wednesday, September 7th, 2011
What did you do last night in Vegas? Lots! And they told us in the form of Two Truths, One Lie. Las Vegas, a city of bright lights, slot machines and the odd indiscretion. And when it's tradeshow season it's all about working hard, playing hard and never regretting later. On our recent trip to the PROJECT show Las Vegas, we decided to find out what people got in to the night before post-hangover. Catching up with a wide selection of tradeshow attendees from the President of PROJECT to designers like Bijules to famous rappers (See which one made our list by clicking through!) to pro skaters like Keith Hufnagel, we had them list three things they did the night before using two truths and one lie. REDU Homeroom: Get Involved

Wednesday, November 10th, 2010
At hearty, we're firm believers that education is the answer to a lot of problems, and last night at Reed Space, Jeff Staple hosted REDU HOMEROOM, an exhibit, gathering and fundraiser to support the REDU initiative (REthink, REform and REbuild public education). The show featured works by Scott Campbell, Jose Parla, Neck Face, Luis Gispert and Lucien Marc-Smith, and all the proceeds from the sales of art, tees, posters and accessories went towards DonorsChoose.org. But if you weren't in attendance, doesn't mean you can't help. Watch the video below to learn more about the downfalls of the current education system and why we need change, visit the Waiting for Superman website to find more ways t0 help, and you can always donate directly to DonorsChoose.org.
