The battle continuesChloë Sevigny appears in a new short film that might get Los Angelenos panties’ in a bunch. Magic Hour, directed by actress and designer Tara Subkoff, recalls the age old debate: which is better, NY or LA? In this 7 minute clip, Chloë plays a lonely New Yorker, recently relocated to LA. On the phone, pacing around her sun-drenched apartment, Sevigny vents about her new city’s shortcomings. Namely, the relentless sunshine, endless traffic, and the inevitable isolation from the city’s sprawl. We’re not sure how 24/7 sun-rays could ever be a bad thing, but it looks like Chloë’s got a case of the homesickness blues...the kind that fish tacos can’t even cure. Sevigny’s tongue-in-cheek performance is right on point, and so are her expert romper bathroom tactics.

Grace Denis is a 21-year-old photographer born and raised in Los Angeles. Grace moved to Olympia, WA, where she is studying photography, for a change of pace. "We've spent our whole lives in big cities," Grace says. "And its been really refreshing to live a simple life in the woods."
The photo above is of Grace's friend showing off a smoke bomb she made. It was taken last summer in Los Angeles at some abandoned railroad tracks by her house. When it comes to camera's of choice, Grace prefer's shooting with a Minolta sr505.
Grace recently curated a group show that opens today (January 7) at White Gloss Gallery in LA called 'ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE.' Grace is also working on publishing a series of books this summer--travel guides in the form of photo books. It will include photos of the strange places she has encountered and a little bit of the history behind each place. The series will include four book: west coast, east coast, midwest, and the south.

A rare collection of George Condo's etchings are now on display
In a much less colorful show than his recent stint at the New Museum, George Condo is currently displaying a collection of etchings in L.A. at Jack Rutberg Fine Arts. "This rare view of Condo’s works in Los Angeles reveals an intimate - and for many - a surprising aspect of Condo’s work, displaying a more distilled aesthetic, rooted through great draftsmanship and line. Condo is typically known for bold paintings so brash as to be referred to as Gonzo Artificial Realism."

Joyrich and LeSportsac channel the 90s in their new spring '11 collaboration collection
A playful take on 90's luxury brands, Los Angeles design house Joyrich collaborates with LeSportsac on a collection of bags fit for Cher (the Clueless version), Blossom or Kelly (as in Kapowski). For the Joyrich x LeSportsac collaboration, Joyrich created three original prints and applied them, along with a quilted patent fabric, to the LeSportsac Classic Collection bags. The special prints include chain, numbered, and pink leopard versions. Joyrich's signature golden triangle logo plate is used on the bags, as well as all-gold hardware and zipper to up the luxe factor.
