YAYOI KUSAMA BOOK

Thursday, September 20th, 2012
So much crazy Yayoi Kusama genius between these Louis Vuitton covers The obsessive polka dots of contemporary Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama found their place in fashion when Marc Jacobs asked her to collaborate on a Louis Vuitton collection. They also created window installations for Louis Vuitton's Manhattan stores and Selfridges in London. There's even an app where you can "imagine yourself or your friends covered with dots." Yayoi Kusama, who's lived in a psychiatric hospital since admitting herself in 1977, was busy writing poems when Marc Jacobs approached her. In this exclusive mongraph for Louis Vuitton, she reveals previously unpublished documents, archival photographs and reproductions of original works. It's an in-depth look at the Yayoi Kusama's genius and insanity with contributions from well-known curators and authors. Check out a sneak peek of Louis Vuitton's Yayoi Kusama monograph book below and see it in person at Louis Vuitton stores.

Ryan McGinley’s New Book

Tuesday, June 26th, 2012

Ryan Mcginley's first major monograph In 2000, after showing in an abandoned SoHo gallery, one of the handmade books Ryan Mcginley created for the show made its way into the hands of Sylvia Wolf, then a curator of photography at the Whitney Museum of American Art. Three years later Ryan Mcginley was the youngest artist to ever have a solo show at the museum. Now, almost a decade later, Mcginley's career is being chronicled in its entirety in his first major monograph. In Ryan McGinley: Whistle for the Wind the photographer's work is considered by three extraordinary talents: Chris Kraus, John Kelsey and Gus Van Sant. Each, through their own lens, offer perspective on Mcginley's work. Ryan Mcginley: Whistle for the Wind is available today via Rizzoli. See a preview of the book below.

RYAN TRECARTIN’S BOOK ANY EVER

Thursday, October 6th, 2011
Ryan Trecartin, like You-Tube nightmare theatre comes out in book form Layering media, Ryan Trecartin’s creates intensely stimulating aural and visual landscapes that comment on youth, consumer culture, and the death of the individual. In case you missed his PS1 exhibit this summer, let us sum it up as room after room of sensory overload. Each of the nine videos played stacked with the likes of IKEA patio furniture and airplane seats. The cast of characters onscreen exist beyond any kind of gender or personality. One stares into his webcam and says “Am I overexisting or am I over existing? That’s my inside joke.” Except it’s not funny. Naturally, we are curious to see how Ryan Trectarin's new monograph Any Eever, which was released by Rizzoli on Tuesday, work will reflect in a book. Watch the trailer from Ryan Trecartin’s installation below and as much of his Youtube as you can handle here. ANY EVER (Trailer), Ryan Trecartin PS1 from Ryan Trecartin on Vimeo.
