Holst + Lee coming to a neck near you

Natalie Holst and Rochelle Lee make up the bad ass fashion collaboration HOLST + LEE. After moving to New York from the South they met late night steez--we're thinking music and booze might have been involved--and from there, a strong friendship and unique artistic outlet flourished. Drawing inspiration from a range of people, places, culture and materials, the ladies of Holst + Lee hope to give back the same creative energy to the community. The Holst + Lee 2012 collection features lots of rope, beads and other materials beautifully smashed together in what comes out looking like a colorful masterpiece. The pair's southern roots can be felt in the pieces but with New York City overtones and each piece is handmade and closes with a magnetic clasp. But not to worry the magnet holds up to 30 pounds, so your Holst + Lee isn't going anywhere. See more from the Holst + Lee 2012 collection below.

METALEPSIS JEWELRY

Much more exciting than grade ten math class At first glance, the Metalepsis’ 2012 collection is organized like the kind of map that hung at the back of your math class in high school. It was the one that you didn’t actually read, instead you kind of crossed your eyes and stared at it because it looked cool. This one is even cooler. Each little geometrical shape on the Metalepsis chart refers to a real piece of bronze jewelry. In fact, for designers Victoria Cho and Astrid Chastka, Metalepsis is all about geometry. Both former architects, the collection is created from linear and curved geometrical shapes and modular geometry, as well as architectural theory and the methodologies of Sol Lewitt. Sounds complicated, but aesthetically the collection is quite simply beautiful. The two implement methods learned in the field, and laser-cut molds for casting and then assemble the pieces by hand. Although several pieces might come from one mold, the casts remain unfinished so that the metal retains the patina, its oxidized layer, which means that each necklaces changes and evolves slowly over time. All in all, Metalepsis is about exactitude of math, the science of the natural world, and theories and processes of architecture, except you don’t get tested on it. You just get to wear it. ADMIRE YOUR ELDERS

The self-described ‘geriatric starlet’ is debuting her new jewelry line Iris Apfel is a rare bird--a brightly and heavily adorned species that has aged gracefully over a near-century. She’s a convincing testament to upping your eccentricity in your post-menopausal years, and a thankful affirmation that there is no need to end up clad in safari hats and Velcro runners--unless of course they look good together. Apfel's jewelry line debuted this week and it’s replete with Apfel’s mandate: bigger is better. Apfel has decades of experience to reference, and her signature is arms dressed up with bangles to her elbows, layers of jawbreaker pendants and those massive, irreverent spectacles. As far as the collection, the original designs look like they were pulled from the Earth--chunky combinations of resins, wood, and other odd embellishments. It’s also peppered with her own vintage pieces. “As a child I watched every day as my very chic ‘maman’ worshipped at the altar of the Accessory. Like a shaman stylist, she worked her magic, transforming her workaday black dress into a smashing cocktail outfit,” she said in a statement on the collection. Andrea Lieberman's first A.L.C. jewelry collection is full of hardware-inspired classics. Former celebrity stylist, Andrea Lieberman, launched her fashion label in 2008 and this season she's added jewelry to the collection. The resort 2012 rings, bracelets, earrings and necklaces stay in the same lane as her clothes--staples with a twist. From far away they look like basics, but up close you'll see intricate designs with an industrial edge. Inspired by bondage and hardware, A.L.C. jewelry features polished brass, screws and chains. Lieberman told Style.com, "I used a lot of bondage elements and softened them to be more feminine." Despite their softening, these are still bold accessories still pack a punch. Especially the rings with pointy features. We recommend you take them off in a fight, or don't. Click here to see more A.L.C. Resort 2012 jewelry!
