Any question in your mind about the effects of the stripper pole workout can be put to rest because it works. Supermodel, Chanel Iman, dons a glittering afro and little else as she bats her eyes and wraps her legs around a silver pole in a new NOWNESS presented short, Chanel Rising. Directed by husband-and-wife duo Dusan Reljin and Hilde Pettersen Reljin, the film is the product of a conversation the directors had with Iman in which she admitted that pole-dancing is her new favorite hobby.
“Even though she is doing something very exotic and visual, the color schemes that we used make her part of the environment," says Dusan. She looks strong and sensual surrounded by neon lights and psychedelic video projections in the background of the platformed pole. The way her body is framed and celebrated speaks to changing markers of beauty, strong thighs and physical prowess.
